This award, organized by SAE Media Group, highlights the exceptional contributions of women engineers who are not only excelling in their fields but also inspiring others to pursue excellence in engineering and technology. 

Karley Hildin: A Rising Star at KrellTech 

Karley Hildin has been a cornerstone of KrellTech's engineering team for five years, bringing innovation, creativity, and leadership to her role as a Product Engineer. With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and certifications like EIT, CSWP, and CPAP, Karley is a master of her craft. She specializes in mechanical engineering, hands-on machining, and parametric CAD modeling, playing a critical role in the design and development of our cutting-edge photonic polishing products. 

Her work at KrellTech is integral to our mission of manufacturing world-class polishing and inspection systems. Karley’s technical prowess is matched by her leadership abilities, having successfully supervised the second generation of our SpecVision product line. Her efforts have not only improved product functionality but also streamlined our engineering processes, ensuring that KrellTech remains at the forefront of the photonics industry. 

Leadership and Teamwork: A Collaborative Force 

Karley's leadership is evident in her ability to guide and inspire her colleagues. She led the restructuring of KrellTech's library of standard and custom polishing fixture designs, making it more efficient and accessible for new and challenging applications. Her leadership extended beyond just managing tasks; she fostered a collaborative environment that encouraged innovation and idea-sharing among her team members. 

Her teamwork skills are equally impressive. Karley played a pivotal role in developing polishing processes and fixture designs for emerging photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and waveguide applications. Her ability to work seamlessly with software engineers, mechanical designers, and production staff ensured the successful integration of various components, meeting project deadlines, and exceeding performance expectations.

Karley’s work at KrellTech has a far-reaching impact on society. By advancing the quality and performance of optical communication systems, she is contributing to the progress of industries such as defense, aerospace, biophotonics, and optogenetics. Her expertise supports the development of critical technologies, including LIDAR systems in autonomous vehicles, quantum computer components, and optical sensors for rapid disease diagnosis. These innovations not only drive technological advancement but also improve connectivity and quality of life across the globe.
