Whether you're working with waveguides, fiber arrays, optical chips, or photonic integrated circuits (PICs), the NOVA™ Workholder provides the precision and flexibility needed to meet the high demands of photonic manufacturing.

Versatility for Photonic Manufacturing Needs

The NOVA™ Workholder is designed for use in a variety of photonic component manufacturing applications. Our standard workholder accommodates polished edge widths from 3mm to 25mm, with an extended length model that supports up to 50mm. This makes it suitable for a wide range of components, from narrow photonic chips to larger fiber arrays.

Both configurations allow for angle adjustments from 0° to 45°, with thicknesses ranging from approximately 0.5mm to over 5mm. This versatility ensures that the NOVA™ Workholder is perfect for waveguide polishing, fiber array processing, and optical chip fabrication—whether for high-precision chip fabrication or large-scale waveguide processing.

Customizable for Specific Photonic Applications

The NOVA™ Workholder comes in several configurations to suit different photonic manufacturing requirements:

Single-Position Variable Angle (manual or automated)

Four-Position Variable Angle (manual)

Eight-Position Fixed Angle

Each option provides ergonomic, repeatable mounting for narrow photonic components like PICs and waveguides, ensuring consistent edge preparation and polishing results. The NOVA™ Workholder can be customized for specific needs, whether you are working with small-scale optical chips or larger fiber array components.

Seamless Integration for Optimal Results

For specialized photonic integrated circuit (PIC) processing, the NOVA™ Workholder features PIC and waveguide carriers that provide ergonomic mounting and repeatable performance. These carriers are essential for ensuring consistent edge preparation and polishing of narrow photonic chips.

Once the components are prepared offline, these carriers can easily be integrated into NV-FLEX and NV-FLEX-A fixtures, ensuring optimal polishing results and high-quality finishes in photonic component manufacturing.
